February 18, 2025 —Today, Rewiring America launches a suite of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to make sharing electrification data easier than ever. The Rewiring America API offers access to the datasets and machine learning models used in tools like the Personal Electrification Planner (PEP) and Savings Calculator. By publicly launching APIs, Rewiring America invites developers to an easy, quick, and free solution for electrification data, models, and insights.

This launch expands Rewiring America’s offering to three APIs, with plans to release additional APIs later this year.

• Incentives — comprehensive, up-to-date information about electrification incentive programs and eligibility in 18 states, with more general coverage for all 50 states. 

• Health Impacts — models the health and air quality benefits of residential electrification.

• Residential Electrification Model — predictions of the energy and bill impacts of residential upgrades based on home address and current heating fuel.

“Building these APIs required us to bring together in-house expertise in building energy modeling, machine learning, and software engineering,” said Erik Shilts, Head of Data Science. “We hope to alleviate the technical challenges associated with understanding the cost and benefits of electrification by making our work available for other organizations.”
